Our membership application for BEGA is available (docx, pdf). New members should fill out the application and send it to Steve Ellzey along with the yearly dues. Existing members will only need to send in your yearly dues to maintain your BEGA membership each year. Your personal information will be saved and you will not have to provide it to BEGA again unless there have been changes. Steve Ellzey has provided complete information on this process.

BEGA News and Info

  • Travel'N'Golf will be opening up the 2019 season with another trip to the desert (Mesquite, Nevada) April 27-May 2. Initial event details along with the entry form are now posted. This trip will once again fall into the "bucket list" category for our members and guests.
  • The 2018 Yearend Update has been posted below in the From the President & Board section below. Thanks to all of you, this has been another good year for BEGA and 2019 should be just as good.
  • The fall TravelNGolf event is now complete and the daily results have been posted on the 2018 Perdido Key Golf Classic link. Final comments from Mike & Linda and payouts have been posted. Thanks to everyone who helped make this tournament a success.
  • The BEGA Club Championship was held October 20th at Hampton Cove between the winners of each BEGA League. The presidents and winners for the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday leagues were represented. Tom Franks won the competition and is the overall 2018 BEGA champion. Congratulations to all the league winners.
  • The annual Pumpkin Ball tournament was held October 6th at Burningtree Country Club. The results are now available.
  • The BEGA monthly tournament for September was held Saturday the 15th at Cross Creek in Cullman. The format was a two person team total net score. Congratulations to the winners.
  • The August BEGA monthly tournament was held Saturday 18 August at Guntersville State park with a 08:30 shotgun start. This was a two person team best ball format. We had 43 players and dodged the weather.  The course was in good shape and we stayed dry.
  • The July tournament was a four person team, 3 net bestball format. We had 39 players at Goose Pond Colony. The course was in good shape and the weather cleared up just before we teed off. It turned out to be great day for golf. Congratulations to the winners.
  • The June tournament was held Saturday June 16 at Bear Trace at Tim's Ford. We had 43 players, fast greens and hot weather.  Congratulations to Wade Stidger who got a hole in one on number 4.
  • The spring 2018 Travel'N'Golf outing to St Augustine Florida was a great success. This turned out to be another Bucket List trip for our members with outstanding courses and an exceptional resort for lodging. All information including results is posted on the St Augustine Tournament page. Many thanks to Mike and Linda Pline on putting together a great tournament!
  • The April Tournament was held at Cherokee Ridge. We had 44 players, great weather and challenging course conditions. Dave Mershon won closest to the pin and Pete Alley won longest putt. Congrats to all the winners! The next tournament will be June 16th at Tims Ford.
  • BEGA is now on Facebook. This is a closed group for BEGA Members and their spouses. It was created to allow us to communicate members activity - bragging rights, gentle pokes, and to add photos individually.
  • Don't forget that each player is responsible for recording their own scores in either the BEGA or GHIN handicap systems.

    Handicaps Each member is responsible for entering their scores into the Handicap System. Please keep up with your scores.
    The BEGA Handicap System is now an "On Line System". The Oklahoma and Wichita clubs are also using our system.

    Purpose The purposes for which the corporation is formed and the objects to be carried on and promoted by it are as follows:
  • To stimulate interest in golf by bringing together a group of golfers desirous of forming a golfing organization;
  • To promote and foster among the members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of the game as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions;
  • To encourage conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf by creating a representative authority;
  • To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the USGA Handicap System and issue USGA Handicap Indexes to the members;
  • To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct association competitions.
