WELCOME TO BEGA

Our membership application for BEGA is available (docx, pdf). New members should fill out the application and send it to Steve Ellzey along with the yearly dues. Existing members will only need to send in your yearly dues to maintain your BEGA membership each year. Your personal information will be saved and you will not have to provide it to BEGA again unless there have been changes. Steve Ellzey has provided complete information on this new process.

BEGA News and Info

  • The SeptemberTournament will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course. This tournament will be a two person team best ball. Number of teams playing will determine number of flights
    Room for 20 teams. Get your entry ready and send it to Steve Ellzey.
  • The August Tournament was held at Lake Guntersville State Park, Saturday, August 19, 2017. We had some really good weather. First 2-3 holes were fun hitting into the fog, where you couldn't even see the flag on the par threes. Also a great turnout. Thanks for participating.
  • The 2017 Perdido Key Golf Classic event has been announced. Information on the courses, lodging and banquet as well as the entry form are now available. This is a great way to end the Travel N Golf season so sign up now to join in on this always fun event.
  • The July monthly tournament was held at Dogwood Hills, in Flat Rock, Alabama. It was a Two-Person Best Ball Tournament flighted by team handicap. The Results are posted HERE.
  • The April tournament was a two person Best Ball at Point Mallard on April 15. Check out the results here. With TravelnGolf heading to Scottsdale in May, the next monthly tournament will be in June.
  • Travel'N'Golf opened the 2017 season with the Scottsdale Bucket List Challenge May 15-20. Scottsdale has again been one of the best overall places we have visited. Results and final wrapup are now posted. Next up will be Perdido Key, Oct 30 - Nov 5.
  • The BEGA Board of Directors nominated and approved Brian Nye as the Saturday League President and Dan Bradley & Donnie Dickey as the Monthly Tournament Co-Directors. Please welcome these guys into their positions with the other BEGA Officers. Remember these are voluntary positions and are performed to benefit our BEGA Membership. Please support and help these guys get off to a good start for our 2017 season. They are in the process of planning and setting up play for Saturdays and Tournament play. You will be hearing from them in the very near future.
  • BEGA 2016 closeout comments and some initial 2017 plans have been posted in the "From The President & Board" section below. A huge "Thank You" to our members that make our association the BEST EVER Golf Association.
  • The 2016 Perdido Key Charity Event was held October 31 - November 6. The daily results, final comments and payouts have now been posted. Next up - Scottsdale in the spring of 2017.
  • The 2016 BEGA League Championship Playoff was held on Saturday, October 15 at Robert Trent Jones - Hampton Cove - Highlands Course. Congratulations to our winner, Joe Jackson who represented the Tuesday League. Additional comments and photos can be found here and on our facebook page.
  • The 2016 Pumpkin Ball Tournament (RESULTS HERE) was played at Burningtree Country on October 1st.This was a great tournament and all that played really enjoyed seemed to enjoy it.
  • Steve Ellzey provided updates to our fall BEGA schedule provided below in the "From the President and Board" section.
  • The spring Travel'N'Golf Huntsville Event was held April 18-24 in the Huntsville area. Top notch courses combined with good weather provided the perfect setting for an enjoyable week. Results have been posted.
  • Bob Kruse passed away on Friday Jan 8, 2016. Bob was the founder of our golf association, started many of the leagues/tournaments that we still enjoy today, and a good friend to all of us. He will be missed. You can sign the guest book at the Hampton Cove Funeral Home website.
  • The 2015 Perdido Key Charity Golf Tournament was held November 2-8. This yearly tournament has become one of our most anticipated and enjoyable events. All results, payouts and event pics have been posted.
  • The 2015 BEGA Championship was held on October 24th at Burningtree Country Club. The winners of the Monday (Mo Price), Tuesday (Frank Vicuna), Wednesday (Mike Greene) and Saturday (Randy Morris) leagues competed for the title. Congratulations to Mo Price, our 2015 BEGA Champion!
  • The 2015 Scottsdale Bucket List Challenge was held May 18-23. This was likely the best event we have ever had given the quality of the golf courses and the history of the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Results, event pics, final comments and payout have now been posted.
  • BEGA is now on Facebook. This is a closed group for BEGA Members and their spouses. It was created to allow us to communicate members activity - bragging rights, gentle pokes, and to add photos individually.
  • Don't forget that each player is responsible for recording their own scores in either the BEGA or GHIN handicap systems.

    Handicaps Each member is responsible for entering their scores into the Handicap System. Please keep up with your scores.
    The BEGA Handicap System is now an "On Line System". The Oklahoma and Wichita clubs are also using our system.
    To access the on line system click on handicap above.

    Purpose The purposes for which the corporation is formed and the objects to be carried on and promoted by it are as follows:
  • To stimulate interest in golf by bringing together a group of golfers desirous of forming a golfing organization;
  • To promote and foster among the members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual benefit, and to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of the game as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions;
  • To encourage conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf by creating a representative authority;
  • To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the USGA Handicap System and issue USGA Handicap Indexes to the members;
  • To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct association competitions.
